The office of state Senator Joseph P. Addabbo Jr. is sponsoring a free paper shredding and clothing donation event at the Shops at Atlas Park in Glendale on Saturday, April 15.

A representative from USA Shred will be there to dispose of personal documents and representatives from the United War Veterans Council will collect clothing donations.

“When you have sensitive documents, whether personal or business-related, it is important that you get rid of them safely so your private information does not get into the wrong hands. Instead of just tossing the documents with your regular garbage, consider coming to this event where you can shred them and ensure that your information stays safe,” Addabbo said. “Additionally, you can get a jump start on your spring cleaning and donate unwanted clothing. I would like to thank the magement team at Atlas Park for hosting this event, as well as USA Shred and the Unite War Veterans Council for their participation in this great event.”

There will be a limit of five boxes or garbage bags for paper shredding. Plastics and X-rays are not permitted to be shredded. Used eyeglasses and American Flags will also be collected.

Residents can shred their old documents from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and those who are looking to donate clothes are urged to use the 82nd Street entrance.

Peter DeLucia, general manager at The Shops in Atlas Parks, saidthat he was happy to form this partnership and host the event with Addabbo’s office.

“We are happy to partner with Senator Addabbo and offer this free service to local residents,” DeLucia said. “This is our third year doing this and we will keep doing it as long as the community wants.”
