Variety Coffee Roasters will open a new location in Ridgewood this summer, giving residents a new place to get a fresh cup of coffee.
Mark Brei, director of Retail at Variety Coffee Roasters, said that opening a new store in Ridgewood was important to the company, as most of their customer base is in that region.
The new location is planned to open at 681 Grandview Ave.
“We just thought Ridgewood made sense for us and it seems like there are a lot of our customers over there,” Brei said.”We have a lot of potential for new customers over there and it’s a neighborhood that we really like.”
He also said the store would become a unique staple in the community because it is always open.
“One of the things that we pride ourselves on is that we are always open. And part of the main reason that we’re always open is that we want people to rely on us as a community meeting space, a space for folks to come and hang out, have a cup of coffee with friends or get some work done,” Brei said.
Known amongst New Yorkers for its great coffee, Variety Coffee Roasters opened its first location on Graham Avenue in Williamsburg in 2008. Since then, the company has opened several different locations throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan, with the new Ridgewood location being their seventh.
As of publication, there is no set date for the Ridgewood opening, but Brei said they hope residents see this new shop as part of the fabric of the neighborhood without disrupting it or changing it.
“We’re there to serve people who have lived in Ridgewood for 20, 30, 40, 50 years and to serve people who just moved there last week,” Brei said. “We just want to be part of the neighborhood. We don’t want to be some outlier that doesn’t seem like it belongs.”
Residents can expect to experience the delicious tasting coffee at Variety Coffee Roasters this summer.
