A Middle Village church is hosting a clothing drive on Saturday, Feb. 25, to help community members in need.

According to Pastor Daniel Torres, there will be many different clothing options available for people to choose from, free of charge, at Radiant Church, located at 60-45 Eliot Ave.

“For us as a church, our mission is always to bring good news,” Torres said.

Torres told QNS that the church had received thousands of clothing items for people to pick from.

Torres said that the church has met with some local schools, including Grover Cleveland High School and PS 193, and the stories he heard from the schools’ parent coordinators motivated him to launch the clothing drive.

“Just meeting the parent coordinators and listening to some of the stories they will tell us — the kid wearing the same T-shirt to school for several days — that was heartbreaking for us,” Torres said.

The Feb. 25 event will be the second clothing drive hosted by Radiant Church within the past few months. Their first was back in December when people all over Queens and other boroughs attended to pick out clothes.

Torres says residents from all over Queens and other boroughs are welcome to come and get new clothes during their drive.

“We just want to express the love of Jesus to the world,” Torres say.  “Whether it’s clothes or if it’s food, whatever we can do to help our community, we just want to be there as much as we can.”
