A man in Jamaica Hills suffered a serious eye injury during an unprovoked attack in late September, according to the NYPD.
Police from the 103rd Precinct in Jamaica are looking for a suspect who approached the 41-year-old victim on the morning of Monday, Sept. 25, as he stood in front of a smoke shop at 179-46 Hillside Ave. and threw an unknown object into his face, police said. The assailant ran off westbound on Hillside Avenue.
EMS responded to the crime scene and rushed the victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center for treatment for possible vision loss to his right eye. An NYPD spokeswoman could not say if the eye injury caused permanent damage.
The object that was thrown at his face has not been determined, the spokesperson said.
The NYPD released new surveillance images of the suspect on Nov. 6 and described him as having a light complexion. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, green pants and a black backpack.
Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
