A Jamaica Estates motorcyclist died weeks after he was involved in a collision on Merrick Avenue in St. Albans on Sunday. Oct. 15.

Anthony Clark, 28, of 190th Street, succumbed to his injuries sustained in the collision and was pronounced dead on Nov. 1 at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, police announced Thursday, Nov. 9.

A preliminary investigation by the NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad determined that Clark was riding a motorcycle westbound on 111th Avenue and entered the intersection of Merrick Boulevard against a steady red traffic signal as a 2018 Honda Accord was traveling southbound on Merrick Boulevard and entered the intersection of 111th Avenue with a green traffic signal. Clark attempted to avoid a collision and laid his bike down on its left side before slamming into the driver’s side of the vehicle, police said.

Clark sustained serious leg injuries and was rushed by EMS to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition, police said. He died more than two weeks later.

The 26-year-old driver who was behind the wheel on the Honda sustained leg injuries and was transported by EMS to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition.

He was not arrested and an investigation by the NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad remains ongoing.
