A man suffered a head injury during an unprovoked attack near the Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike subway station on Queens Boulevard in October and the suspect is still on the run more than two months later.
The random assault occurred during the early morning hours of Wednesday, Oct. 11 when the 26-year-old victim was walking near the station just before 2 a.m. when a stranger approached him and struck him in the head with a Master lock causing a laceration to his skull.
The suspect ran off in unknown direction and police from the 112th Precinct in Forest Hills and Transit District 20 are still searching for him nearly 10 weeks later.
EMS responded to the scene and transported the 26-year-old to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition. The NYPD released surveillance images of the suspect on Saturday that shows the assailant coming through the turnstile at the station.
Cops describe the suspect as having a light complexion with a light beard and a slim build. He was last seen wearing eyeglasses, a multi-colored jacket with a Bad Boys record company logo across the chest, a yellow baseball cap, black pants, and black sneakers. A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information that leads to his arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
Through Dec. 10, the 112th Precinct has reported 96 assaults this year, 16 more than the 80 reported at the same point in 2022, according to the most recent CompStat report.
