In an effort to help make prom night shine for students across the city, the Delta Zeta Beta chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. is hosting its annual Prom Attire Giveaway.

This charitable event, set to light up the lives of many on Saturday, April 6th, will be held in the gymnasium of the Institute for Health Professions at Cambria Heights, located at 207-01 116th Ave, from 12 pm to 4 pm.

Starting March 11th through April 3rd, the sorority chapter is calling on the community to donate new, clean, and gently used prom dresses, suits, ties, shoes, accessories, and unopened makeup. Collection points are stationed at various locations throughout southeast Queens, inviting contributions not only for high school students but also for younger kids in middle and elementary school.

This year’s giveaway promises an even grander scale of generosity, allowing students from all five boroughs to “shop” for their ideal prom outfits at no cost. All students who register for the event will be entered into a raffle, offering three lucky winners glamorous prizes such as makeovers, haircuts, or salon visits.

Dr. Carol M. Grant, president of the Delta Zeta Beta chapter, shared her aspirations to expand the impact of the giveaway each year. “Prom night is cherished with memories that students carry with them  for a lifetime.

The Delta Zeta Beta chapter has been a pillar of the Queens community for over six decades, leading various community service events like voter registration drives, back-to-school supplies giveaways, and birth equity programs. The Prom Attire Giveaway is another testament to their commitment to service and empowerment, making prom night accessible and memorable for students who might otherwise miss out on this experience.
