A Queens Village man was identified Monday as the victim in a fatal collision on Hillside Avenue in Jamaica Hills late last month.

Police from the 103rd Precinct in Jamaica responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian struck in the vicinity of 171st Street and Hillside Avenue on the night of Friday, May 31.

Upon arrival, officers found 56-year-old Mahendra Lall, of 210th Street, who sustained injuries to the head, left arm and right leg.
EMS responded to the location and rushed Lall to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on Tuesday, June 11, police said.

An investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that a motorist was behind the wheel of a 2018 Honda CRV traveling eastbound in the left lane on Hillside Avenue approaching 171st Street. At the same time, Lall began crossing Hillside Avenue from north to south when he stepped into the path of the SUV and was struck.
