Police from the 115th Precinct in Jackson Heights are looking for three men who attacked a 7 train rider on the night of Tuesday, July 23.
A 26-year-old man was riding on a Flushing-bound train that was approaching the 103rd Street-Corona Plaza subway station just before midnight, when he became embroiled in an argument with three strangers. The dispute escalated into violence when the three assailants began punching the victim throughout the body, police said.
The victim got off the 7 train after it pulled into the station while his attackers remained on board. He refused medical attention at the scene.
The NYPD released surveillance images of the three suspects. The main antagonist wore a black T-shirt with white details, blue jeans, a black Nike baseball cap and a black backpack. The second suspect wore a light blue long-sleeved Oxford shirt, white pants and a dark blue Yankees baseball cap on top of a second baseball cap. He had a black backpack and a second black bag slung over his shoulder. The third assailant wore a white long-sleeved Oxford shirt, black pants and white sneakers.

Through July 28, the 115th Precinct has reported 359 assaults so far in 2024, 90 more than the 269 reported at the same point last year, an increase of 38.1%, according to the most recent CompStat report. Transit crimes are down in the precinct with 44 reported so far this year, 14 fewer than the 58 reported at the same point in 2023, a decline of 24.1%, according to CompStat.
