International cannabis operator Curaleaf celebrated the launch of recreational sales at its Queens location in Forest Hills on Friday, July 26.
Located at 107-18 70th Rd., the dispensary previously only sold cannabis for medical use. Now, the New York State Office of Cannabis Management is allowing the store also to sell cannabis for recreational use.
The Forest Hills location originally opened in 2018, providing medical marijuana for customers who suffer from chronic pain, cancer, PTSD and other qualifying conditions.
Curaleaf also recently expanded sales to include recreational use at its Plattsburgh, NY, location on Saturday, July 20. The company also opened up a new medical dispensary in Rochester, NY, on Thursday, July 25.
“We thank the Office of Cannabis Management for approving us to expand our operations to ensure even more New York patients and customers have access to licensed, tested cannabis across the state,” Curaleaf CEO Matt Darin said. “From Rochester to Forest Hills, our team members are eager to welcome the newest members of our cannabis community while continuing to provide medical patients with the high-quality service and products they deserve. This is an exciting step forward for our retail operations in New York, which we consider to be a key founding state for the Curaleaf brand.”
Curaleaf says it is committed to working with its medical patients and that they will be prioritized.
Customers at all locations will have access to dedicated staff members, industry-leading product offerings and other amenities designed to provide a premier retail experience. The company is opening yet another New York location in Syracuse within the coming weeks. With this opening, the cannabis operator will have six dispensaries across the state and 148 nationwide.
