Police from the 105th Precinct in Queens Village are looking for a gunman who opened fire near the Queens Public Library branch in Cambria Heights during the evening of Thursday, Aug. 8.

The perpetrator was in front of a home at 116-42 219th St. at around 7 p.m., just two doors away from the Cambria Heights Library on Linden Boulevard, which fortunately closed for the night less than an hour earlier.

The suspect allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired a shot, which struck the trunk of a 2012 Dodge that was parked in front of the house, police said.

The gunman took off running northbound on 219th Street toward 116th Avenue. There were no injuries reported as a result of the shooting incident.

The NYPD released a surveillance photo of the suspect and described him as having a dark complexion and slim build. He wore a blue hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants with white stripes down the legs, white sneakers and a black backpack.

A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information that leads to his arrest.

Through Aug. 4, the 105th Precinct has reported ten shooting incidents so far in 2024, four fewer than the six reported at the same point last year, an increase of 66.7%, according to the most recent CompStat report.
