Man sought for allegedly gratifying himself in front of a J train rider in Woodhaven: NYPD

Cops are looking for a suspect who allegedly exposed himself to a 20-year-old woman riding a J train in Woodhaven and performing a lewd act.

Police from the 102nd Precinct in Richmond Hill and Transit District 20 are looking for a pervert who subjected a 20-year-old woman to public lewdness while she was riding a J train in Woodhaven on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred at 3:30 p.m. on a Manhattan-bound J train at the 85th Street-Forest Parkway subway station, when the woman noticed a man sitting across from her expose himself and perform a lewd act, police said.

The alleged sexual deviant got up and changed cars before leaving the train and running off in an unknown direction. The victim was not physically injured during the incident.

The NYPD released a brief video that shows the suspect sitting with a blue backpack on his lap just before he exposed himself to the victim. He is described as having a dark complexion with a slim build and he wore a hat with an American flag printed on it, a white t-shirt, tan pants and black boots.

A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information that leads to his arrest.

Through Aug. 4, the 102nd Precinct has reported 23 sex crimes so far in 2024, 18 fewer than the 41 reported at the same point last year, a decline of 43.9%, according to the most recent CompStat report. Transit crimes are also down in the precinct with six reported so far this year, one fewer than the seven reported at the same point in 2023, a decline of 14.3%, according to CompStat.
