Flushing Town Hall has announced its month-long lineup of enriching music and dance programs for Queens residents to enjoy. Below is a list of upcoming events for September.
Louis Armstrong Legacy Monthly Jazz Jams
Wednesday, Sept. 11

In-Person Tickets: $10 General Admission / FREE for Members, Students and Jamming Musicians
The Louis Armstrong Legacy Monthly Jazz Jams invites jazz musicians of varying levels to perform at Flushing Town Hall on Wednesday, Sept. 11. The jam is open to professional musicians, graduate students studying jazz, music educators, serious hobbyists and vocalists, regardless of instrument. House Band and Jam Sessions are led by Carol Sudhalter, with Joe Vincent Tranchina, Scott Neumann and Eric Lemon. Jazz enthusiasts are welcome to come and listen to the jam session.
The Louis Armstrong Legacy Monthly Jazz Jam, which celebrated its tenth anniversary in October 2021, started in collaboration with Queens College’s Aaron Copland School of Music. The jam began as an educational program for young jazz musicians to play together and hone their skills. The monthly jam was later opened to amateur and professional musicians and public audiences under Queens Jazz OverGround, a collective of Queens-based jazz musicians.
Flushing Town Hall and 5BMF present: Biribá Union

Biribá Union is a trio of musicians who create high-energy songs by blending the genres of Hip-Hop, Funk, Pop, Brazilian, Bluegrass and Jazz to complement their diverse backgrounds. The band is comprised of Mike Block (cello and vocals), Christylez Bacon (beatbox, guitar and rhymes) and Patricia Ligia (electric bass, pandeiro and vocals).

Duo Extempore, a pianist and bassist duo, will take the stage at Flushing Town Hall. Drawing from classical and jazz virtuosity, the musicians will bring their unique sound to a local audience.
Duo Extempore’s credits include Carnegie Hall, the Banff Centre in Canada, Bellas Artes Centro Cultural in Mexico, the Blue Note in Germany and the UniJazz Festival in the Czech Republic.
The group’s debut album, “Ordinary Places,” was created using field recordings of everyday locations, exploring the boundaries between music and ordinary sounds.
Mini-Global Mashup: Brazil Meets Trinidad and Tobago

In-Person Tickets: $15 General Admission / $12 Members, Seniors and Students w/ID
Flushing Town Hall’s Mini-Global Mashup series is showcasing Everton Isidoro, a high-energy Brazillian steel percussionist, with accompanist Marcus Kreiger and Trinidadian tabla artist Rohsini Samlal with accompanist Camila Celin for an afternoon of global fusion music. The musicians will host an interactive audience discussion post-concert.
Additionally, on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 2 p.m., Flushing Town Hall is hosting a free concert featuring jazz composer Mark Wade and classical composer Yuval Medina at Sunnyside Community Services, located at 43-31 39th St. in Sunnyside. Wade will perform a selection of original jazz compositions and music from his next album with his acclaimed band, the Mark Wade Trio. Medina’s program will include a cadenza for solo cello, Convincing a Ghost to Stay, and yet-to-be-performed songs based on the poems of Edna St. Vincent Millay. To RSVP, click here.
