A 75-year-old man was shot in the face, and a 14-year-old girl suffered a gunshot wound to the leg when someone started shooting on a Rosedale street on Thursday afternoon.
The senior was riding his bicycle on 243rd Street near Weller Avenue at around 4:30 p.m., and he was struck in the jaw while the girl was standing nearby and was struck in her thigh. Police from the 105th Precinct in Queens Village responded to 911 calls of shots fired at the location and took three teens into custody.
EMS rushed the 75-year-old victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition. The wounded girl was transported by private means to Northwell Health/Cohen Children’s Medical Center in Glen Oaks in stable condition.
The three teens remain in custody, and as of Friday afternoon, no charges have been filed, according to an NYPD spokeswoman, adding that the motive for the shooting is not yet known. The investigation remains ongoing.

Through Sept. 8, the 105th Precinct has reported 11 shooting incidents so far in 2024, 5 more than the 6 reported at the same point last year, an increase of 83.3%, according to the most recent CompStat report.
