Homicide detectives out of the 113th Precinct have identified a suspect who is being sought for firing a half-dozen shots at an alleyway of a Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen at 117-13 Farmers Blvd. just before 5 p.m.
One of the bullets struck a 66-year-old man in the head as he was driving past, police said. The victim lost control of his gray 2014 Nissan SUV and struck a 23-year-old woman who was walking in the crosswalk at 117th Road and Farmers Boulevard. The SUV mounted a curb and smashed into the front of a vacant storefront, which was home to a shuttered 7-Eleven across 117th Road from the Popeyes.
Police from the 113th Precinct in Jamaica responded to a 911 call of shots fired at the location and found the motorist with a gunshot wound to the head. FDNY helped to extricate him from the wrecked vehicle, and EMS rushed him to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short while later, police said.
The victim was later identified as 66-year-old William Alcindor of 114th Avenue in Cambria Heights. The 23-year-old woman sustained injuries to her legs and was transported by EMS to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition.
The NYPD released a photo of the suspect early Tuesday morning and described him as having black hair, a medium complexion, a slim build, approximately 150 pounds and being 15-18 years old. He was last seen running eastbound on 117th Road toward 192nd Street.
