Tickets are now available for the Tianyu Lights Festival, an immersive winter lights experience debuting near Citi Field this holiday season.
Running from Nov. 29 to Jan. 19, the festival will blend traditional Chinese artistry with cutting-edge light sculptures and interactive technology in Flushing.
Festival organizer Tianyu Arts & Culture, a Chinese lantern festival producer that has produced 86 festivals in 78 cities across the US, is bringing the immersive experience to New York City for the first time ever this holiday season.
This year’s festival features Koda’s Adventure, an immersive experience allowing guests to join 7-year-old Koda as he recounts his thrilling journey through the Amazon rainforest. Tianyu said guests will be treated to a captivating array of light sculptures and interactive installations during Kora’s Adventure that help bring Kora’s adventures to life. The immersive experience also offers guests a chance to search for clues, participate in a number of interactive games and win prizes.
A team of Chinese lantern artisans and video game designers has crafted each installation using steel, LED lights, and a variety of vibrant fabrics to create an immersive experience.
Tianyu said the aim of Kora’s Adventure is to create a truly immersive, live gaming environment for guests of all ages, combining the magic of lantern artistry with the excitement of interactive gaming.
The lights festival will also feature a variety of themed nights throughout its two-month run in Queens, including “Twinkle Tails Night” on Dec. 18. This event invites New Yorkers to bring their pets to enjoy locally crafted treats and souvenirs for both dogs and cats. Tianyu Lights Festival has also partnered with North Shore Animal League America, meaning anyone who adopts a pet from the animal rescue between October and December will receive a pair of free tickets to the festival.
Huiyuan Liu, organizer of the upcoming lights festival, said Tianyu is thrilled to bring the event to New York City for the first time, adding that Twinkle Tails Night will be a night to remember for New Yorkers.
“Our themed night, Twinkle Tails Night, offers unique experiences that will connect the community and give locals a chance to enjoy this one-of-a-kind lantern festival in the heart of the greatest city in the world,” Liu said in a statement.
Tickets for Tianyu Lights Festival are available now for $22. The festival will take place right outside Citi Field from 5-10 p.m. between Nov. 29 and Jan. 19, 2025, with the last entry to the festival at 9 p.m.
The festival will be closed on Dec. 9, Dec. 16, Dec. 20, Jan. 6 and Jan. 13.
