Two suspects sought for groping, punching and robbing a woman in Ozone Park on Saturday night: NYPD

Police from the 106th Precinct in Ozone Park are looking for two suspects who groped a woman before robbing her on the night of Saturday, Oct. 26.

The 26-year-old victim was walking near the intersection of Glenmore Avenue and 76th Street in Ozone Park at 9:23 p.m. when two strangers approached her and touched her chest and private area, police said Tuesday.

The perpetrators proceeded to punch her in the head and forcibly removed her cash, headphones, and cell phone before running off northbound on 80th Street from Liberty Avenue. An NYPD spokesman could not say how much currency was stolen, but he said the cell phone was worth around $200 and the headphones were worth $300.

The victim was not hospitalized.

The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspects as they walked along Liberty Avenue and described one as having a slim build and dark complexion and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants with white stripes, and dark-colored sneakers. The second suspect is described as having a medium build and a light complexion. He wore a blue sweatshirt and tan pants.

Through Oct. 27, the 106th Precinct has reported 175 robberies so far in 2024, two fewer than the 177 reported at the same point last year, an increase of 1.1%, according to the most recent CompStat report. Felony assaults are on the rise in the precinct, with 322 reported so far this year, 21 more than the 301 reported at the same point in 2023, and an increase of 7.3%, according to CompStat. The precinct also reported 38 sex crimes so far in 2024, the same number of cases at the same point in 2023, according to CompStat.
