State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr., is partnering with The Solution to Hunger, Inc., to launch a month-long drive to collect essential winter items for those in need.
Starting Nov. 1 through Nov. 30, residents are encouraged to donate new toiletries, socks, and coats, as well as gently worn coats, at two of Addabbo’s district offices.
“During this season of generosity, we have an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in our community,” said Addabbo. “Every item donated can bring warmth and comfort to those who need it most.”
Donations can be dropped off during regular business hours at Senator Addabbo’s District Office in Woodhaven, located at 84-16 Jamaica Ave., or at his Middle Village office at 66-85 73rd Place. The drive aims to ensure that individuals and families facing economic hardship can face the cold weather with dignity and warmth.
The initiative follows a series of community-focused efforts by Addabbo, who has made it a tradition to support local charitable drives during the holiday season. In recent years, he has organized coat drives, food collection efforts, and toy drives to provide for under-resourced families.
Addabbo’s office emphasized that while all donations are valuable, items that help prevent winter-related health risks — such as coats and socks — are particularly important. Winter can be an especially challenging time for those experiencing homelessness or financial insecurity, and the senator’s team hopes the drive will attract wide participation from Queens residents.
Historically, Addabbo’s holiday season initiatives have seen a strong turnout, with local residents often bringing in dozens of bags of essential items.
