The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has announced another full weekend closure of the eastbound Belt Parkway at Exit 20 (150th Street/Rockaway Boulevard) in South Ozone Park to facilitate demolition work.
All lanes will be diverted to South Conduit Avenue from 10 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, through 6 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20.
The temporary traffic pattern will allow crews to safely demolish the Van Wyck Expressway bridge over the eastbound Belt Parkway as part of NYSDOT’s Van Wyck Expressway Capacity and Access Improvements Project. Detour signs will guide motorists to reenter the eastbound Belt Parkway after Farmers Boulevard.
The closure is weather-dependent, and inclement weather may result in rescheduling.
Drivers are encouraged to check for real-time updates by calling 511, visiting 511NY.org, or using the free 511NY mobile app.
NYSDOT reminds motorists to drive cautiously and responsibly in work zones, where fines for speeding are doubled. Multiple speeding violations in work zones could result in a suspended driver’s license.
