Police from the 107th Precinct in Fresh Meadows are looking for four alleged muggers who jumped a 22-year-old man in Jamaica Hills on the evening of Friday, Jan. 3.
The victim was walking past 179-33 Hillside Ave. at around 5 p.m. when four strangers approached him and attempted to grab his personal belongings. The incident escalated into violence when the man refused to comply, and one of the perpetrators slashed him in the left arm with an unknown sharp object, causing a laceration, police said Sunday. The four men ran off empty-handed toward Midland Parkway.
EMS responded to the crime scene and transported the injured man to Queens Hospital Center in Jamaica, where he was listed in stable condition.
The NYPD released surveillance of the suspects Sunday, but they all wore face coverings to conceal their identities. One wore a black hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, black and gray sneakers, and dark gloves. A second suspect wore a black hoodie, black jeans, and white sneakers. The third man wore a black hooded sweatshirt, blue sweatpants, and white sneakers, while the fourth perp wore a black athletic jacket with a red letter “R” on its chest over a black hoodie, gray sweatpants, white and black sneakers, and black gloves.

Through Dec. 29, the 107th Precinct reported 118 robberies in 2024, 21 fewer than the 130 reported at the same point in 2023, a decline of 15.1%, according to the latest CompStat report. Felony assaults were up in the precinct, with 270 reported in 2024, 21 more than the 249 reported at the same point in 2023, an increase of 8.4%, according to CompStat.
