Julia’s, a beloved restaurant in Ridgewood, is set to celebrate its tenth anniversary on Thursday, Jan. 23.

However, the milestone is tinged with a sense of transition as the current owners have announced their intention to explore selling the business to pursue new opportunities.

Over the past decade, Julia’s has become a staple in the community, hosting countless birthdays, anniversaries, celebrations, and everyday brunch gatherings. In a heartfelt statement, the owners expressed their gratitude to their loyal patrons and dedicated staff, acknowledging the challenges they faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Surviving the pandemic was a monumental challenge, but it was your unwavering support that pulled us through,” the statement read.

While they are ready to move on, they are looking for someone to bring a fresh perspective and energy to the legacy they have built in Ridgewood.

“Julia’s is more than just a business – it’s a space built on shared experiences, both joyful and difficult. And now, we’re leaning into that shared bond with complete honesty. After much thought and careful consideration, we’ve made the bittersweet decision to explore new opportunities for the future, including the possibility of selling the business in 2025,” they stated.

“We’re open to potential buyers, partnerships, or any ideas that might carry the business forward. It feels important to break the stigma around these moments by approaching them with transparency and truth. First, we shared our intentions with our team, and now we’re sharing them with you – our friends and neighbors.”

The decision to consider selling Julia’s was not made lightly, but the owners have assured patrons that the restaurant will continue to operate as usual for the foreseeable future.

In the meantime, the restaurant is gearing up to celebrate its 10th anniversary in style. On Thursday, Jan. 23, Julia’s invites customers to stop by and say “jujube’s”—the restaurant’s affectionate nickname—to receive a complimentary glass of bubbly as part of the celebration.

Located at 818 Woodward Ave. in Ridgewood, Julia’s has long been a neighborhood favorite for brunch, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant operates from noon to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Weekend brunch is served from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Happy Hour specials are available daily from 3 to 6 p.m.

Julia’s remains a cherished part of the community, and its 10th-anniversary celebration offers an opportunity for patrons to honor the restaurant’s legacy and toast to its future.

Julia’s has repeatedly proven to be a highly beloved local business, with many positive reviews online.

“Best brunch in the area! Great atmosphere, very nice people working there, awesome food, and good quality Prosecco. We loved it and will be back soon!” wrote one very satisfied customer.

“The food for brunch was DELICIOUS! I had the sandwich on the menu. The staff was extremely friendly. The dishes were adorably plated and reasonably priced. It’s a gem in the middle of Woodward Ave. I would definitely recommend checking this place out,” another stated.

If the current ownership decides to sell, it will be a disappointing loss for many in the Ridgewood community, and will be remembered fondly.
