Someone in Glendale is starting the new year $50,000 richer.

The New York Lottery announced on Thursday, Jan. 2, that a third-prize-winning Powerball ticket worth $50,000 was sold for the Jan. 1 drawing at Myrtle Convenience Deli Inc., located at 68-15 Myrtle Ave.

The ticket matched four of the five white balls and the red Powerball, securing the third-tier prize. The winning numbers for the drawing were selected from a field of one to 69, while the red Power Ball was drawn from a separate field of one to 26.

Powerball drawings take place three times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays—at 10:59 p.m. and are televised nationwide.

The Powerball jackpot for the Saturday, Jan. 4 drawing is an estimated $200 million, with a cash option of $90.7 million, according to the Powerball website. The last jackpot was won on Dec. 7, when a single ticket in Flushing secured $256 million.
