A Ridgewood man was identified as the murder victim whose body was discovered along the Clearview Expressway on Tuesday morning, the NYPD announced early Friday morning. The investigation was reclassified as a homicide.
Emmanuel Moncoeur, 57, of Margaret Place, was spotted in the grass near the tree line by a motorist who pulled over on the northbound shoulder near the Union Turnpike exit alongside Cunningham Park just before 9 a.m. on Feb. 4, and he called 911.
Police from the 111th Precinct in Bayside responded to the scene and found Moncoeur face down with head trauma. He was hogtied, according to an NYPD spokeswoman, meaning his hands and feet were bound together. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.
Following an autopsy, his death was deemed a homicide caused by blunt force trauma to the head by the city’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Thursday.
There are no arrests, and the homicide investigation remains ongoing.
