For couples looking for something unique and special to do for Valentine’s Day, Flushing Town Hall is hosting a Jazzy Valentine concert on Friday, Feb. 14, at 8 p.m.

The concert will feature live jazz music and singing, with live performances from Marion Cowings and Kim Kalesti, a renowned jazz duo known for their extraordinary vocal talent and work with countless jazz artists throughout their careers.

Flushing Town Hall, located at 137-35 Northern Blvd., is a vibrant cultural center that offers year-round performances, educational programs, and community events that celebrate the borough’s rich artistic heritage.

“We are thrilled to welcome Marion Cowings and Kim Kalesti for this special Valentine’s Day duet concert,” said Ellen Kodadek, Flushing Town Hall’s executive and artistic director.

Cowings and Kalesti have a myriad of impressive accomplishments throughout their careers, including Cowing, who has performed at venues like Lincoln Center, and Kalesti, who has performed with jazz icons Dizzy Gillespie and Clark Terry. Cowings is known for his smooth, velvety voice and scat singing, and Kalesti has been praised for her dynamic range and vocal abilities. The duo, who have recorded numerous albums together, are meant to give a performance that will make for an unforgettable evening, perfect for a special Valentine’s date night.

“It promises to be a beautiful occasion for romantic couples, dear friends, and lovers of jazz alike to enjoy a memorable, intimate evening of live music,” said Kodadek.

And if seeing these two dynamic singers performing live isn’t unique enough, the concert at the historic Flushing Town Hall is another added treat to the evening. The location is a landmark building that has been standing since 1862, with renovations and investment from the City of New York. It has hosted countless talented artists and musicians over the years.

“Flushing Town Hall is a hidden gem for great jazz if you want to see exciting performers,” said Clyde Bullard, Flushing Town Hall’s jazz producer. “In recent years, we’ve presented NEA Jazz Masters like Reggie Workman, Jimmy Owens, and Paquito D’Rivera, as well as some of today’s biggest names and emerging stars like Alicia Olatuja, Gustavo Casenave, and Bill Charlap. You don’t want to miss the talented Marion Cowings and Kim Kalesti.”

Tickets for the event are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and students with ID, and $18 for members.
