New York City residents have until Sunday, June 4, to apply for a housing lottery for one of the five units available at 229 Beach 14th St. between Seagirt Boulevard and Heyson Road in Far Rockaway.
All five units are intended for those earning 130% of the area median income and with an asset limit of $201,890. They are two-bedroom units and cost $2,800 a month in rent. Up to five people are allowed to live in each unit. The combined annual income for each household must range from $96,000-$227,500.
Amenities available within each unit include air-conditioning, hardwood floors, patios or balconies and high-end kitchen appliances, countertops and finishes. Other features of the building include security cameras, a virtual doorman, an elevator, an accessible entrance, assigned parking spaces and bike storage lockers. Additional fees apply for the assigned parking spaces and bike storage lockers. Tenants will be responsible for electricity, including heat, as well as gas, including stove and hot water. The building is smoke-free.
There are bus stops near the property for the Q22, Q113, Q114 and QM17 lines. Among some of the other notable nearby features are the Rockaway Beach Boardwalk, O’Donohue Park, the Beach 9th Street Playground, the Lanett Playground and the Beach 16th Street shoreline. There are multiple schools also within close proximity to the property, including Yeshiva Darchei Torah, P.S. 197 The Ocean School and Bnos Bais Yaakov.
Those who intend to apply for housing at 229 Beach 14th St. are required to meet the housing and income size requirements. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online by June 4. Qualified applicants must meet additional selection criteria.
