Vibez Studio in Bayside celebrated a milestone this spring as it hosted its 10th annual Autism Acceptance Zumbathon, bringing together community members, fitness enthusiasts and advocates for a night of high-energy dancing and heartfelt support.

The event, held in honor of Autism Acceptance Month this past April, raised funds for The Way Finder TRIBE, a New York-based nonprofit that serves individuals of all abilities.

The Zumbathon, a popular annual tradition at the Vibez Studio location at 32-43 Francis Lewis Blvd, combined fun, fitness, and philanthropy as dozens of participants moved to Latin-inspired rhythms in a show of unity and inclusion. Local instructors volunteered their time to lead the multi-hour dance workout.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 1 in 36 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. In New York City, thousands of families rely on local resources like The Way Finder TRIBE to access recreational programming and peer support for individuals with autism and related developmental disabilities.
