Game, set, match!
If you are a tennis aficionado, or simply like a good workout, Go! Tennis at the North Shore Tennis Club is the place to go.
The club’s 14 clay courts are open to leagues or to those who just want to play recreationally.
The goal of Go! Tennis is to help people learn the game in a fun way and also help with sportsmanship and character building.
The North Shore Club has been in existence for nearly 100 years, but Go! Tennis merged with it recently to create a new stream of membership. As a result, they now have renovated facilities.
“We have a complete bar and grill and a big lounge area with flat screen televisions,” said George Garland, Go! Tennis director. “It’s an unbelievably nice facility, the nicest of its kind in the area.”
The facility also has two air conditioned squash courts, two platform tennis courts which are lit at night, spacious locker rooms, a pro shop, video equipment for stroke and match play analysis and viewing areas from the lounge.
Go! Tennis has men’s and women’s leagues, as well as junior programs and numerous tennis camps for all ages.
They have a 27-week indoor season that runs from mid-October through mid-April and a 25-week outdoor season through spring and summer.
“We really want to have a successful winter season and have that translate into the months that follow,” Garland said.
The club is located at 34-28 214th Place in Bayside and is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
