Balance Disorder Clinic Opens

Medical Surgical Balance Services, P.C. has opened in Forest Hills, giving Queens residents a new place to go to be diagnosed and treated for dizziness and balance disorders.
The center, which is state-of-the-art, will have collaborations with an ear, nose and throat doctor, neurologist and physical therapist specializing in balance assessment and re-training. They &#8220will use sophisticated computers and painless testing modalities to facilitate accurate diagnosis.”
Dr. Alan Levin, who graduated from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical School, will act as the center's director. He said that &#8220loss of balance dramatically diminishes one's quality of life and sense of independence.”
It is estimated that tens of millions of Americans are affected by dizziness and loss of balance. Both problems can result in falls, which can, in turn, cause hip fractures, and various other injuries, some of which can be life-threatening.
Some of the systems that can affect balance are vision, heart failure, neurological disorders, middle ear problems, inner ear problems and diabetes, among others.
&#8220With the opening of our new center, the people of Queens will now have a place to go for this complex medical issue,” Levin said.
Medical Surgical Balance Services, P.C. is located at 104-40 Queens Boulevard in Forest Hills.
