Police confirmed the body found at an Elmhurst hostel last night is that of missing chef Andrea Zamperoni.

Zamperoni was last seen Monday, Aug. 19 at his home on 74th Street, around the corner from the hostel.

Zamperoni, 33, was the head chef at the well-respected restaurant Cipriani Dolci in Manhattan’s Grand Central. He never showed up for his afternoon shift on Monday and was then reported missing.

The investigation into his death is ongoing and the medical examiner is working to determine his cause of death, police said.

Kamway Lodge, where Zamperoni’s body was found, has a history for drugs and prostitution, according to CBS NY

However the Cipriani’s manager Fernando Dallorso told the news channel the circumstances surrounding Zamperoni’s death were strange, adding “he’s not a guy that goes out or parties or whatever, he’s a hard worker.”
