Two crooks who celebrated Independence Day by robbing a Long Island City gas station and beating up a worker there remain at large, according to police.
The NYPD released on Monday security camera footage of the suspects wanted for the July 4 caper, which occurred at 7:42 p.m. inside the Exxon Mobil gas station located at 40-40 Crescent St.
Law enforcement agents said the two suspects — a black man in his 20s wearing an American flag t-shirt and a Hispanic male in his 20s wearing a baseball cap and a red t-shirt — walked into the station and removed property from a shelf without paying.
When the gas station attendant tried to retrieve the property, police noted, one of the suspects punched the employee in the face. The two bandits then fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Officers from the 108th Precinct responded to the scene; the victim suffered a laceration to his mouth.
