If you ever wanted to spend the night at a library, you will get your chance this weekend, as the Queens Library will hold a 31-hour marathon at the Peninsula Branch in the Rockaways with a whole host of fun events planned.

Starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26, and lasting through 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27, the Peninsula Branch located at 92-25 Rockaway Beach Blvd. will keeps its doors open for 31 consecutive hours for anyone and everyone who wants to come pop by.

The Peninsula Brach will be offering programs that they usually offer during normal operating hours like “Story Circle,” Story Time for Kids with the NYPD, as well as additional programming such as a viewing of “Saving Jamaica Bay” with a talk by writer/producer Dan Hendrick, a viewing of “Jaws,” Scary Story Time outside on the plaza at midnight, a karaoke dance party, a community breakfast and much more.

The all-nighter is part of the “Queens Library Is for Everyone” campaign, which was launched back in April to reinforce Queens Library’s culture of inclusion, welcoming and outreach in the current political climate, and to make library services available to people who might not be able to get to access the library during normal operating hours.

This is only the second marathon event to be held as part of the campaign. In June, the Queens Library held the first marathon at the Corona branch.
