Police need the public’s help in identifying a woman wanted in connection for a robbery and assault in Kew Gardens Hills.

It was reported to cops in the 107th Precinct that on Sunday, Aug. 5 at 5:30 a.m., the 53-year-old male victim picked up the female suspect in his cab in the vicinity of 31st Street and Astoria Boulevard.

The driver brought the woman to her destination at Kissena Boulevard and 71st Avenue, where she proceeded to pay him. But when the man attempted to give the woman her change, she accused him of giving her the wrong amount.

The woman allegedly became belligerent and refused to leave the taxi. When the driver stepped out of his cab to escort the suspect out, she exited the vehicle and jumped into the driver’s seat. Law enforcement said that as the man tried to remove her from the seat, the woman reportedly bit him on his right arm.

She briefly locked herself in the cab before opening the door and fleeing into 154-01 71st Ave. with the victim’s wallet, which contained $200 in cash and multiple credit cards. Police said that the victim was treated at a nearby hospital for injuries he sustained from the bite on his arm.

The woman is described as a heavy-set woman and was last seen wearing a white shirt, black pants and black and white sneakers.
