An 89-year-old woman died of her injuries after she was hit by a car in Flushing on Sunday night, police reported.

At 8:34 a.m. on Sept. 16, law enforcement sources said, officers from the 109th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Parsons Boulevard and 32nd Avenue.

Upon their arrival, they found 89-year-old Maria Piscina of Parsons Boulevard lying in the roadway, unconscious and unresponsive, with head trauma.

Based on a preliminary investigation, police determined that a 54-year-old man behind the wheel of a 2013 Mercedes Benz SUV was moving southbound on Parsons Boulevard and approached the intersection of 32nd Avenue. Piscina, who was crossing the street in the marked crosswalk, was struck as the driver turned left onto 32nd Avenue.

The driver remained at the scene following the incident.

EMS responded to the scene and transported Piscina to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens hospital, where she later died of her injuries.

No charges have been filed against the driver, and no criminality is suspected, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
