South Asians talk politics at Queens Village meet

Community leaders of South Asian origin in northeastern Queens gathered Monday night to share their ideas and concerns with the upcoming state Senate elections in the 11th District.

The meeting included a panel of nine South Asian community leaders who discussed two points: the empowerment of the community, specifically the role of political parties and elected officials, and the endorsement of Democrat Morshed Alam in his state senatorial run.
