With a strongly worded statement issued last week, the Board of Education upheld the removal of a member of School Board 30 for trying to intimidate another board member.
Astoria attorney Ted Kasapis, who was elected to Board 30 for the first time in May, was removed Sept. 15 by Schools Chancellor Rudy Crew after an internal Board of Ed investigation determined that Kasapis tried to coerce another newcomer to the board, Woodside resident Jeannie Basini, to vote with him in the June 1999 officers
