Despite complaints about dismal service the city is allowing four private bus companies from Queens to retain control of dozens of routes for at least another year.
The Franchise Concession and Review Committee, which is overseen by Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, voted on Jan. 11 to extend the interim operating licenses for the Green Line, Jamaica Bus Line, Triboro Coach, and Queens Surface Corp., which run local and express routes throughout Queens.
City Comptroller Alan Hevesi was the only board member to vote against the extension.
