Con Ed under fire again for high rates

It is not just the heat that is rising this summer. New Yorkers, angry about high utility rates, are fuming over Con Edison rates.

This week New York City Comptroller Alan Hevesi said Con Ed should give back to its customers the $1.3 billion the company expects to save over 10 years from its merger with Northeast Utilities, along with the $200 million Con Ed already owes its customers from the sale of generating facilities.
