The 7-week-old had stable vital signs and was conscious, said a spokeswoman for North Shore Hospital in Manhasset, where the baby was staying.
His father, Mauricio Vasquez, 28, of 42-37 165th St. in Flushing, was also charged with assault and reckless endangerment. He was arraigned in State Supreme Court in Kew Gardens Feb. 17.
His bail was set at $1 million.
Vasquez was arrested Feb. 16, one day after he and the baby's mother, Vanessa Ocampo, brought the newborn to the hospital with a fractured skull and internal bleeding in the brain, police said.
After an investigation by the Special Victims Unit of the New York Police Department and district attorney's office, Vasquez, a Colombian native, was arrested.
The city's Administration for Children's Services said no other reports were filed against Vasquez or the residence before.
