The Our Lady of the Snows Cadet baseball team raised its season record to 8-0 by defeating St. Cecilia’s this week, 5-0. Frank Sadicario started for Snows and threw five innings, allowing no runs on three hits while walking two and striking out eight
As has been the case all season, the boys struggled to score runs but once again scored enough to win. The offense was led by the pitching staff. Jay and Frank each drove in two runs while Jason had the fifth RBI.
Last week Snows beat St. Stan’s, 6-4, and Mt. Carmel, 12-8.
Against St. Stan’s, Frank Sadicario took the mound and struggled through the first inning, allowing four runs. He settled down in the second and retired all 18 batters from the second through the seventh innings, including 11 batters on strikes.
Offensively, Snows continues to struggle at the plate but the boys keep on finding ways to score enough runs to pull out victories. Kevin Salcedo tripled, singled and drove in two runs; Brian Biscotti singled, walked and stole two bases; Ray Potestio singled and drove in a run; Chris Viso tripled; Jeremy Hausdorf singled with an RBI; and Anthony Meo, Joey Caraballo and Anthony Kelly scored runs.
Against Mt. Carmel, Jason Sophie took the mound and, although he didn’t have his best stuff, kept Snows in the game over the first three innings. Frank came on to throw the final four innings, allowing one run.
The offense was led by Chris Viso, who tripled, singled and hit a monster two-run homer. Jeremy Hausdorf, who is slowly coming out of his season-long slump, had a double and a triple. Anthony Langone singled and scored twice, Kevin Salcedo singled and scored, and Anthony Meo, Anthony Kelly, Joey Caraballo scored runs.
