Jack Curran is Molloy athletics.

He’s coached the Molloy baseball team to the city championship game 27 times during his illustrious career, winning 17 CHSAA titles during his 46 years at the Briarwood school.

And he’s the first coach to win both CHSAA basketball and CHSAA baseball coach of the year honors.

Of course, he’s also the only coach qualified to win both awards.

The Stanners didn’t win the baseball championship this year — the hardwood was brought home by rival Xaverian. But because of Curran, Molloy was a team feared every time it took the field.

And because of Curran, Molloy will be a team feared as long as he’s standing down the third-base line at Stanner Field.
