In PSAL/CHSAA Challenge
Christ the King (2-0) topped Benjamin Banneker of Brooklyn in the final game of the Big Apple Basketball PSAL-CHSAA Challenge Sunday evening at Baruch College, 77-62.
Larry Davis led the way with 17 points, Andrew Gabriel added 12 points and 20 rebounds and sophomore Erving Walker added eight in the fourth quarter when the Royals broke the game open with a 16-6 run.
In other games during the week-end-long tournament, Campus Magnet (8-1) topped Holy Cross (2-3), 48-45, giving longtime coach Charles Granby his 600th career win. Evan Thomas earned MVP honors with 19 points. In another game, Springfield Gardens (5-1) fell to St. Raymond's from the Bronx, 72-68. Charles Jenkins scored 32 points in the loss.
