Parks Depart. Breaks Ground On New Field

Adrian Benepe, Parks & Recreation Commissioner, joined Councilmember James Sanders and members of local soccer, football, and Little League organizations to break ground on a $1.3 million reconstruction of the 3.3-acre athletic field at Brookville Park in Rosedale.
The project, funded by Councilmember Sanders, will include a new synthetic-turf football and baseball field, sidewalks, grading, plantings, and two sets of bleachers that will seat up to 300 people. Work is scheduled for completion by spring of 2006. The synthetic field will be usable year round.
The field overhaul is part of Parks & Recreation's recently announced two-year commitment to ballfields, which will bring 55 new and/or improved ballfields to parks across the city over the next two years.
