The storied, shingled Finkle Mansion at 3250 Rawlins Avenue ended its final chapter on Thursday, January 19, when workers tore down the majority of its frame to make way for five new homes.
The much-awaited demolition, approved by the city on January 17, touched a nerve for many local residents, who grew up in both fright and awe of the manor house, which sat cloaked for decades behind a stone-and-iron gate and a forest of thick evergreens.
