CTK, Molloy advance to state finals

Christ the King routed St. John the Baptist Saturday night, 75-45, behind 23 points from junior guard Lorin Dixon. Tina Charles added 17 points and Sky Lindsay 16. The Royals (27-0) will be gunning for their 17th straight state title when they face St. Michael Academy, the Manhattan-Staten Island representative, in the CHSAA Class AA state championship game Sunday, with a bid to the New York State Federation tournament on the line.
The Royals, the top-ranked team in the country who earned their 54th straight win, dominated St. John the Baptist (22-4) from the outset, leading by 37-19 at halftime and by 29 points after the third quarter.
Molloy topped Sacred Heart (22-3) of Buffalo, 55-45, in the CHSAA Class A semifinals. Kerri White led the Stanners (19-9) with 18 points, shooting 10-for-10 from the foul line. Irene Rynasewycz added 16 points. “She really spurred us at the right time,” Molloy Coach Marty Towey said.
