Smith’s temper in question again

State Senator Ada L. Smith is accused of throwing a hot cup of coffee on a former employee and tugging on her hair. An argument ensued after the employee allegedly questioned Smith’s dieting practices.
The staffer, Jennifer Jackson, reported the incident to the state police last week after having been on the Senator’s payroll for only a month.
This is not the first time Smith has been accused of having a hot temper. She was accused almost ten years ago of harassing another staffer with a sharp utensil. In 1998 Smith allegedly assaulted a police officer in Brooklyn over a traffic dispute. The officer was forced to use mace to control Smith.
Three years ago, Smith was again implicated in an incident involving a state trooper in Albany. Smith apparently sped through a security checkpoint after being asked to present an officer with her identification who she almost ran down.
“The claims that have been made by a disgruntled former employee are completely and utterly false,” said Smith, in response to the most recent allegations. “I don’t know the motivation behind these claims, but I am confident my constituents and my colleagues will see through these lies.”
Smith maintains that this incident has created such a stir because this year is an election year. State police are investigating the matter further.
