State Education Aid For The City

In 2003, State Courts ruled that the State had been shortchanging NYC in educational aid for years. The Court specified that the city was owed an additional 5.6 billion a year in financial aid over 5 years, with 9.2 billion to go in capital improvements.
Without this money some very necessary school construction projects in Queens will be put on hold. They include the Metropolitan Campus on Metropolitan Avenue in Forest Hills (HS and 2 elementary/middle schools), a preschool on Seneca Ave., and an elementary/middle school on Woodhaven Blvd.
These projects all affect children living in Senator Maltese’s district.
I therefore am calling on the Senator to please start making public school funding a priority! District 24 is the most overcrowded in the city, and the population continues to go grow. We need to get these new school projects in motion immediately.
