An aspiring rap artist from Hollis has been charged with illegal possession of deadly assault firearms which he allegedly stockpiled in a South Ozone Park residence.
District Attorney Richard Brown identified the defendant as Michael Lynch, 30, of 110-35 196 Street in Hollis. The defendant was arraigned this past week in Queens Criminal Court before Judge Alex Zigman on 12 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree. Bail was set at $150,000 and Lynch is slated to return to court on April 24. If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison.
The defendant was apprehended and detectives seized three unlicensed semi-automatic assault rifles – including an AK-47, a Norinko SKS, and a semi-automatic rifle with a flash suppressor and a pistol grip which had its serial number ground off. Several boxes, bags and magazines of ammunition were also recovered.
The investigation was conducted by Detectives Dominick DiGennaro and David Gilbert of the District Attorney’s NYPD Detective Squad under the supervision of the NYPD’s Firearms Investigations Unit.
