Francis Lewis stands out

The seventh-seeded Patriots were the lone Queens team to win in the PSAL Class A quarterfinals, edging No. 2 Madison, 4-3. Larissa Reddick and Michele Runko each drove in a run, Jessica Payero scored twice and Camille Sedayao allowed just two earned runs in a complete-game performance.
Meanwhile, No. 8 Bayside was bludgeoned by top-ranked Tottenville, the two-time defending champs, 11-0, in a five-inning game. Brittney Stratton limited the Commodores to just a single hit, and struck out 11.
The Queens A division winner, William Bryant, didn’t have much luck either, falling to No. 4 Walton, 10-0. Melissa Mejia and Melissa Pena combined to give up 10 runs on seven hits and five walks in five innings. Because the quarterfinals are a double elimination format, Bayside and William Bryant’s seasons are not yet finished.

Elsewhere, No. 22 LIC topped No. 29 Gompers, 9-6, and third-seeded Lane routed No. 14 Brooklyn Tech, 14-2.
