Soccer Contest

As the World Cup commences play after its traditional four-year hiatus, The Queens Courier wants its readers to feel like they are in the middle of all the action. We will be running a World Cup contest for the next four weeks of spellbinding soccer, The Queens Courier’s World Cup Fever.
The tournament begins with 32 teams from countries all over the world divided into eight four-team groups. Half of them advance into the second round after three opening-round matches. It then becomes an elimination format, narrowing the field down from 16 to eight and then to four and two, with the survivors battling it out for the World Cup title on July 9th.
The reader who accurately predicts the final four teams that will compete for the two berths in the title match will win four tickets to a New York Mets game.

The deadline for The Queens Courier’s World Cup Fever contest entries is June 22nd. The winner will be announced in the July 6th issue. Good Luck!
