ADVENTURELAND Rock-em Sock-em fun for all ages

With 28 rides – including rock-em sock-em bumper cars, a towering 60-foot ferris wheel, a spooky haunted house and a 35-mile-an-hour hurricane coaster – visitors to Long Island’s Adventureland Park have more than enough rides to choose from.
For Abie Chaudhry, 8, from Beechhurst who came with his grandfather to the park on Monday, July 3, the &#8220Adventure Falls” was the main attraction.
&#8220We went on five times, but we got wet six,” Chaudhry said, pulling his wet blue T-shirt away from his body to demonstrate how soaked he had gotten on the park’s massive log flume.
Chaudhry’s grandfather, Norm Horowitz, said that the pair had visited the park two years earlier for his grandson’s seventh birthday, but Chaudhry had been shorter than the required 4-foot height to get on the ride. This year he was taller, and ready.
&#8220Today is a perfect day,” Horowitz said. &#8220Next time, I’m going to bring a plastic bag for my phone and keys though.”
Over 15,000 visitors – from Queens, Long Island and the other boroughs of New York City – flocked to Adventureland Park during the July 4 four-day holiday weekend.
Some like Peter Martin, 12, and his brother Kenny, 9, from Whitestone went to the park to get soaked on the five water rides, while others like Ronnie and Jay Koza from Merrick, Long Island who brought their granddaughter, Kayla Wilder, went to take a spin on cute kiddie rides.
For the younger set, Adventureland has over a dozen rides including a swirling helicopter ride and a &#8220Tour de Paris,” a train of mini cars that roll right underneath a shrunken Eiffel Tower.
New rides this season are the baby log flume and the Frisbee rides.
Complete with rock climbing and a train to carry visitors around the park, Adventureland has all the ingredients for a day of family fun – rides, games, and snacks.
In addition, for the adventure seekers, the park has two roller coasters – the Hurricane Coaster and the Lady Bug Coaster.
Adventureland, in Farmingdale, Long Island, is located on Rt. 110 off exit 49S on the Long Island Expressway. A full-day pass costs $23.99 for adults and children over 4-feet tall, $18.99 for anyone under 4-feet. All day passes are good for one of two sessions – opening at 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. or 4 p.m. until closing at 11 p.m. Individual tickets cost $1 each, and three to five tickets are required for each ride. The park is open every day from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., but visitors are advised to call 631-694-6868 because hours are subject to change with bad weather.
